MIMCO X ALICE POTTS
From nature’s waste blooms a new kind of beauty — delicate sequins spun from flowers, food and time, reminding us that luxury can be reborn from what we leave behind
In partnership with Mimco and the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), Alice Potts brought her pioneering biomaterials practice to life in a limited-edition jewellery capsule that merges art, sustainability, and fashion. Drawing on food and plant waste, Potts developed vibrant bioplastic “sequins” during lockdown, using flowers, discarded produce, and natural dye sources to give colour and texture. Mimco responded by combining these sequins with upcycled semi-precious stones, freshwater pearls, and archival beads in 20 one-of-a-kind jewellery pieces..
